nearly 7 weeks of stay in Australia
participating in a overseas military exercise
codenamed Exercise Wallaby.
More specifically, it's in the state of Queensland,
somewhere near the town of Rockhampton.
Even the nearest city, Brisbane, is quite a distant away.
Shoalwater Bay Training Area was the place where i was,
with a landscape which you probably won't find in Singapore.
Pretty refreshing and interesting to see but
definitely not an exercise that i look forward to.
Nonetheless it's still a good learning experience, i would say.
Shall not go too much on the military part,
below are some of the happenings during my trip.
At this small little town of Rockhampton,
there weren't much of big shopping malls,
but there is this particular supermarket chain outlet
called 'BIG W'.
It is one of the more well-known ones there,
comparable to our NTUC.
In fact, it IS our "NTUC" in Australia.
Everything we need is bought there, more or less. Haha.
I remembered somewhere near that supermarket,
there were this shop called 'GO SHISHU', housed in the same mall.
Happened to past by and was looking at their display of sushi.
Next thing that happened,
i was prompted by the salesman if i was from Singapore,
and he continued saying there are discounts for us if we buy their Sushi.
HAHAHA. It's like the FIRST TIME in my life that
i was exactly offered a cheaper price for being a Singaporean.
Not bad uh! Hahaha. =)
Just as the exercise mark its start,
it was part of my responsibility to do outfield duties.
As soon as you start thinking, first thing that comes to mind
would be combat rations and a few days off from showering.
Well, it wasn't too bad after all when it comes to doing
duties on the mountain where the scenery is seriously really very, very nice.
Like WOR!~
I do have some pictures,
but somehow it doesn't looks as great as it was when i was there.
Perhaps some things just need to be seen in person.
Nevertheless, here are some of the pictures,
credits to my sergeant, FOO MING FENG.
And, seriously, that was what i saw for the whole 7 weeks.
Trees, Mountains, Grass, Sand.
Just a little too much of it. HAHAHA.
ANDDDDDDD
it does get really cold at night especially when you are on high ground.
Much of unpleasant events have happened at the camp site.
A lot of lessons were learnt,
relationships deepened
true colours of people exposed.
Seen pretty much during the 2 months.
Like really really a lot.
