Although i left the Tekong island for just merely 7 and the half months
it seems a lot of changes have been made.
Not so sure if it's for the better but i'm sure changes are inevitable.
For instance,
(1) Physical Training (PT) attire has its colour changed to green, it used to be brown.
I guess i'm really going to 'standout' from the rest with my brown PT attire
i.e. easily singled out by sergeants and officers. Bad, bad.
(2) All subsequent Passing Out Parades (POP) will be at Marina Bay Floating Platform
instead of the having it held at Tekong.
It's the parade that marks the end of the 2-Months Basic Military Training (BMT),
some sort of graduation ceremony equivalent.
This change is said to be able to allow more audience in to witness the parade.
Doesn't really matter to me, but i guess it will somewhat inconvenient us
as we complete our 24km route march on our way to the Platform.
(3) Standard Obstacle Course (SOC) are revised to what seems to be known as
the Vocation Obstacle Course (VOC), which are more focused on
overcoming obstacles that stimulate more like the modern building structures.
I am not so sure about this though, haha. Haven't get to try either of it yet. =)
(4) One more BMTC school is set up, amounting to a total of 4 schools now.
The 4th school is actually where the rocky hill camp is situated at,
which is the camp where i was for my 5 weeks of army life earlier this year.
That camp is rather shady and windy, as it's surrounding by forest. =)
But too bad, i wasn't posted to the same camp for my reenlistment. Haha.
(5) NS Portal has revamped itself to give a new look.
I've roughly explored, it's kind of neater, more organised & more user-friendly
but i still think much improvements can be done actually.
In fact, i received a email for a PR firm personnel who
is writing on behalf of the NCS Portal City (the guys behind NS Portal).
He was kind of promoting the revamped NS Portal to me
and wanted me to share it here.
Well, but i don't think you will be interested to know la uh, so skip that.
(6) System for IPPT training (army version of NAPFA) has changed for NSmen.
Till now, I still don't quite understand how actually that work, so forget it. Haha.
All these are just some of the changes of the bigger plan, which is
MINDEF's initiative to transform the army into a 3rd generation army,
by restructuring its system, improving its training programme
and advancing of the current technology.
Just this year alone, a lot of changes has already been made
and i'm sure more are to come.
Whatever the case, as long as it doesn't make my life more difficult
should be okay la uh. HAHAHA.
Okay la, i think i've just bored you guys uh. Hahaha.
But girls should try to know some of these you know,
if not you will never understand what your boyfriend is talking about
when he starts to talk about his army life and you just gong gong don't know.
Ultimately you get left out you see. Hahaha.
